Brædstrup Fjernvarme System
Brædstrup Fjernvarme has during the last 10 years been a Danish frontrunner in how to make district heating efficient, cheap for the customers and environmentally friendly at the same time through activities in the electricity market, smart metering, introduction of regularly service visits by the customers and support to improvement of house installations, implementation of the worlds first large scale solar district heating plant combined with natural gas fired CHP, implementation of borehole storage, heat pump and electric boiler to be able to maximize flexibility in the electricity market and to continuously dessiminate results to colleagues inside and outside Denmark. The consumers benefit of the activities has been low heat prices (Brædstrup is among the 20 % cheapest natural gas fired CHP plants in Denmark), less pollution (the natural gas consumption was in 2007 4,756,707 Nm3 and it is now reduced to 2,942,991 Nm3, or 61.9 % of the 2007 emission NOx and CO2 is reduced with the same percentage). All house installations are checked every second year by the utility and all customers can find key figures for their own consumption at Brædstrup Fjernvarmes homepage via a personal link. All large decisions are taken by the yearly general assembly, where all customers are invited and have a vote.
