Summary of the JSC Litesko Project View
JSC “Litesko” Project in Alytus, Lithuania
To ensure sustainable and environmentally friendly heat production and supply – Power plant station was started to build in 2009 year. As well as planned, construction and installation works was carried out in less than three years. Alytus biofuel plant is one of the largest power plant in Lithuania. The project was implemented while using modernization process. Natural gas and heavy oil 116 MW power water heating boiler was replaced to biofuel cogeneration power plant. There was installed 20.2 MW biofuel boiler and 5 MW condensing economizer. Green electricity is produced by electic generator capacity of 5.4 MWe and 18.9 MWth of thermal energy. Biofuel cogeneration power plant produces green electricity and heat supply to Alytus city. The main aims of this project were to reduce heat cost, make it less dependent on natural gas; upgrade the heat supply and increase efficiency; reduce greenhouse gas emissions to environment. For energy productions is used biofuel, therefore decreases natural gas consumption in Alytus.
