Open District Heating enables businesses to turn its cooling cost to a revenue and at the same time heat citizens in Stockholm with its waste heat. A transparent and easy business model where Fortum Värme purchase the waste heat from the suppliers, transport the energy via the existing vast district heating system and finally heat up apartments in Stockholm with the waste heat. The recovered heat makes the total heating system in Stockholm more cost and environmental efficient. During 2016 a total amount of 66 GWh heat was recovered in to the district heating network and contributed to heating of up to 20.000 apartments in Stockholm.
